DTC/LID

I love the lingo of the adoption people, totally cracks me up. Anyway the DTC is "dossier to China" date. For us it was August 22, 2005. The LID is "log in date" which is the date that the Chinese government logs your dossier into their system. For us the date was August 31, 2005--pretty efficient. Well now we continue to wait. Even thought I talked about painting in the last post, never got to it. . .having to cover some overtime shifts so I've basically been in the hospital the entire month of October. So in conclusion--we have about four more months to wait (hopefully); makes me wonder if she is already born or not. . .

The Waiting Game. . .

I'd like to think that now that the NFL season is starting I'll having something to occupy me while we wait for the next six months (hopefully less and not more). Anyway, if you are interested we registered at Babies R Us and Potterybarn Kids (links to the left). We so far have bought the bedside table and the dresser for the nursery and now I am probably going to start painting the room next week, PINK, of course. Well, we appreciate everyones prayers as we now wait.

On another note, if anyone on is look for something to read I highly recommend the Inheritence series by Christopher Paolini. I just finished Eldest and it had a really good plot with nice twists and was never slow like LOTR.

Good News!!

Well, I know its been a while but I do have good news. Our dossier was sent to China yesterday so the count down is on! Only about 6 more months to wait. Now comes the fun stuff; get the nursery ready, register for baby shower stuff, etc. Anyway hopefully the six months will go fast.

One more piece of paper to go. . . . .

Well, we are almost at the end of what initially felt like an abyss. We are now waiting for the USCIS (formerly known as the INS) to send us our approval for adopting an international child. That being said we seem to be right on schedule to have all our paperwork go out on Lorie's 30th birthday--then comes the wait.

The home study is done

Well, big news today as you can see by the above named title. Our home study was submitted to the Feds (immigration) so that George Bush can give his stamp of approval on us being fit enough to adopt a child from outside the US. So, here is what is left:

Get our immigration letter from the INS
Get all our dossier paperwork state sealed
Submit the dossier to the Agency for translation, etc.

Then we wait, and wait, and wait. Well, till the next update (FYI the word "till" is in the dictionary and the meaning is "until.")

Now I'm in IAFIS. . .

Yes, its official--Lorie and I were fingerprinted yesterday by the Feds. That being said I was warned by the immigration officer that my finger prints were good and therefore better not do anything wrong, otherwise "we gonna get you." So latest update is that we got our medical forms and other dossier stuff notarized--luckily we have a friend at church who is a notary and was willing to follow us around town to get paperwork done.

Now that we have a little extra time to begin the planning part, we have actually been looking at cribs and nursery furniture. But no buying yet--I don't think either of us will feel fully confident until all our paperwork goes to China.

Well, another week of work has gone by and so starts my week off. So here is where we are in the adoption process. . .we have finished all our home study meetings and should be getting the formal home study report in about three weeks. In the mean time we have received our letter to go get fingerprinted by the FBI, so that the INS will approve our adoption. Also we are finishing up the dossier paperwork. The dossier paperwork is the stuff that acutally get translanted into Chinese and is sent to China. It contains documents like our marriage certificate, birth certificate, financial disclosures, employment letters, physical exam reports, and police clearance letters. Everything that we send to China also has to be notorized and then sent to the State of Delaware for certification. . .it is crazy all the paperwork that has to be done. Anyway, barring any major hang ups, we seem to be on schedule for our dossier to be submitted to the Chinese government on July 1st. It cannot be submitted any earlier because we have till wait until Lorie is 30 (China requirement is for both parents to be 30 years of age). I never have seen anyone so excited to turn 30 in all my life.
